Looking for Recruitment Agencies to Help Find a Job?

Have you started searching for recruitment agencies yet?

Are you stuck in the job hunting process?

Maybe a professional job recruiter is what you need.

Although there are different schools of thought regarding recruitment agencies, I consider a recruiter as any person that is actively helping you find a job.

When I was searching for a job, I really didn't care if they called themselves a recruiter, headhunter, employment agency, staffing agency or career advisor.

My only concern was getting the best person to help me.  Here are some things to consider when dealing with recruitment agencies.

  • For our needs, the recruitment process involves finding a valuable career resource that will provide assistance in our search for a job.
  • You will find recruiters and headhunters in employment agencies and throughout the entire job recruitment process.
  • Once again, whether they call themselves a staffing agency, recruitment agency or employment agency, its all the same to us.
  • As I suggest to all of you throughout this job hunting resource guide, I too did not limit myself to one career resource completely; and neither should you.
  • I have interacted with hundreds of headhunters (or was it recruiters) when I was actively searching for a job.
  • To simplify the process, look at headhunters as representing many different organizations.
  • And recruiters as locating qualified people while representing a particular company.

Either way you slice it, we are talking about a person that is providing a service to you...as well as representing the interests of an organization.

I'm sure many will disagree, but it really doesn't matter for us. We are only concerned with getting a valuable career resource to help us land a job.

Whether you choose a recruiter or a headhunter...(or they choose you), you will at some point, go through a recruitment process.

My advice? Use it all. Mix in your personal job search strategies like networking, contact lists, company websites and job search engines.

But take this to the bank...nobody has your best interests at heart as you do. Do what works for you.

Key Recruitment Agency Advice and Tips:

  • Having a "person" vs. a "machine" helping you with your job search is always better.
  • Nobody has your best interest in mind more than you.
  • Find out which side the recruiter or headhunter is on.
    • Do they represent you?
    • Or the organization?
  • Don't fall for any slick job hire ads.
    • I would question any organization (or person) that guaranteed 100% job placement.

Your job hunting process thus far consisted of developing your job hunting approach using a getting started strategy and a career development plan.

Then you've determined the best way (or several ways) to conduct an effective job search.

At some point you may have mixed in a recruitment agency headhunter or recruiter to help you along. You now need to work on your resume and cover letter.
