Online Jobs
Can Be A Great Resource

Online jobs can come from a wide variety of sources. Consider cyberspace job opportunities as a potential career resource.

What do I mean by employment listings over the Internet? As it relates to this section, think of career resources such as:
  • newsgroups
  • chat rooms
  • blogs
  • discussion forums
These career information tools can be an a very useful job search strategy.

To me, it is nothing more than networking and developing your contact list. If you have close relationships in these areas, go for it. It's all about reaching out.

I keep referring to casting a wide net. The more people you reach out to, the better your chance is of finding a job opening. Don't limit yourself to one job search strategy.

Mix this strategy in with your job search engines, career employment search on company websites, newpapers and job fairs. And of course your personal network.

Expand your career development plan as much as possible. If you are comfortable with newsgroups, go with it.

If blogs and Internet forums is more up your alley, use that too. The career information section of this website can also be another employment tool for you.

If you are uncomfortable with computers, you may want to take a peek at the local newspaper. If the newspaper ad refers to a person, email or phone number...follow up.

The bottom line with regards to Internet employment opportunities is developing your contact list and networking plan.

If you find someone who has a potential lead for a job opening, follow up with him or her for more information.

What happens when you have exhausted your job search strategy (such as job search engines, networking, contacts, company career employment sites and job fairs?

It might be time to seek out career assistance from headhunters, recruiters, and/or employment agencies.
