A Homebased Business
Might Be What You're Looking For

Wouldn't we all love to have a homebased business so we could just stay at home and work? No bosses, no commute!

Sounds good to me too.

But as you well know, it's not that simple.

I'm not saying it is a bad idea. Just the opposite.

I think mixing in home business opportunities can be a very lucrative career move.

I do recommend however, you do your homework before "quitting your day job".

Here are some things to consider when thinking about starting your own business from home:

  • I guess the first place to start is coming up with a unique product or service you intend to form your business around.
    • In other words, what is your idea?
  • As with the job hunting process, it's all about planning.
    • You need to come up with a plan of how you intend to get the home business idea off and running.
    • I would recommend researching the "business plan" management tool.
  • You will need to address your finances and come up with a good financial plan.
    • List all your assets (money) you have available and determine if you have collateral for securing a business loan.
  • Don't forget the legal aspects of a home business.
    • I would highly recommend you seek some legal advice early.
    • You may also want to check with your local zoning offices for your county, city, etc.
  • It is possible that you may require licensing for your business.
  • Ask your legal council about tax laws that may apply.
  • Insurance. Protect yourself and your business.
  • Computers and technology requirements.
  • This would also include specialized software on your computer such as accounting and finance platforms.
  • You may need to come up with a marketing strategy.
    • Don't forget business cards, fliers and other materials needed to advertise your home business.

The list above is by no means all of the aspects to consider.

The good news is...there are home business opportunities out there that require very little of the mentioned items.

As I like to say, use every career tool at your disposal, including a homebased business idea.

Here's a hot tips:  check out the home business opportunities to see what myself and others have done to make it work.
