Proper Career Planning
Is Crucial For Success
Effective career planning now will pay huge dividends down the road.
The first thing you will want to do will be to assess your career
education, skills and desires.
Similar to the getting
started tips I mentioned previously, sketch out a plan on
"getting there from here". Consider things like education
and training.
Another important facet of
effective career planning is contacting your mentor
or career advisor for guidance. Or maybe you have a recruiter
or business partner you can go to for advice.
There is no one best way to
approach the job
hunting process. But for me, the best approach was to start
planning my career early on. I prefer the step by step method,
personally.
Here is how it worked
for me.
-
Find out what it is you really want to do. Be
honest with yourself.
- Where are you currently in your life? Now that
you know what you want
to do, where are you in relation to that? Are you almost there?
- Organize your support group. This could be
family, friends, mentors, business associates, etc.
- Start narrowing down key employers you are
interested in. Cast a wide net at first, then work from there.
- Submit your resume and apply for a position.
