Career Advice
Made All the Difference
Career advice tends to
be centered around those of you who
have a pretty good understanding of
what you want.
But what happens when we are ready to start all over with a new
career?
Or we know what we want to do, but realize we need a little more career
education to get us moving in the right direction.
Well, this is something I am more than familiar with.
I spent
the vast majority of my professional employment with one company.
But it got to a point when I saw the light at the end of the tunnel,
and decided it was time for a change.
At first, I spent a lot of time searching ways to start a homebased
business.
Some of the best career advice I ever had was concerning
owning my own home business.
I have been down this road and would be happy to share my success with
a homebased business with you.
In addition, I have been lucky enough to work for an organization where
telecommuting
was accepted.
This
is becoming increasingly popular every day. Now if we could all find a
boss that will let us stay home a few days a week, we'd be good to go.
There is also the possibility that you do not need to find a new
organization to work for.
Maybe the best career advice for you is to grow within the company you
currently work for.
If this is the case, check with your career resource (HR) department.
The human resource (HR) department is a great place to search for
career guidance such as training and education.
As a manger and leader
in my organization, I love it when people come to me and ask about how
to advance their careers.
A bit of advice for you to remember is: when speaking to your hiring
manager, try to align your career goals so that they benefit not only
you, but your organization as well. Managers love that.
With regards to those of you looking for a perfect career
finder
website...I believe it was Confucius who said "find a job you love and
never work a day in your life".
It took me many years to truly
understand what that meant. If you don't enjoy what you are doing, you
might be ready for a career change.
I know there is a lot more to it,
but it is pretty good advice.
Key Career Advice Tips:
- Quite often, the best career changes happen
within your existing
organization.
- Don't "quit your day job" seeking a home
business opportunity until
you are absolutely sure everything is lined up.
- The best career resource might be your current
HR department.
- Always look for career education opportunities
to broaden your
career.
Still considering a career change? Have you thought about moving overseas and
finding work abroad? I did. And spent ten years of my life
living the dream. You can too.
All it takes is a little planning and a little courage.
